About three weeks ago the lecturers had organised for Victoria Locas to come in and show us her work. Locas is the creator of Archive Books and kindly held a book binding workshop for us. I was mainly interested in her book binding but her instilations were also of interest to me. I had a look at her website later on and this has given me a few ideas of how to photograph my book once I make it.
I thoughrally enjoyed learning how to make a book as I have come from an artistic background and it had been a while since I’d had my hands on some crafts and had the chance to think creatively using a different form of art. Since the age of 18 when I knew photography was where I wanted to specialise I put my all into that one idea and explored everything through the means of photography so it was a fresh start and nice to have my eyes opened into my old way of thinking. Now I can combine the two worlds and hand make beautiful small books to hold my photographs. I am excited about collecting the materials and making my final piece.
This is the book that i made in the workshop.
